Cancellation, Rescheduling and Refund Policy
Version 2 · prepared September 25, 2026
What happens to your money when a booking is cancelled, rescheduled or missed, and how refunds are paid.
When you cancel
- At least 24 hours before the scheduled start: full refund of the booking amount, including tax.
- Less than 24 hours before the start: 80% of the service amount is refunded, with the tax on it. The remaining 20% is a late-cancellation charge that goes to your photographer for the time they held for you.
If no photographer had yet accepted your shoot, nobody blocked the time, so a late cancellation is refunded in full.
Before you confirm a cancellation, your booking page shows the exact refund and the exact amount retained.
Example, using an illustrative tax amount: a $400.00 service plus $52.00 tax ($452.00 total). Cancelled 30 hours ahead: $452.00 refunded. Cancelled 10 hours ahead: $320.00 service + $41.60 tax = $361.60 refunded; $80.00 plus its $10.40 tax is retained.
If you don't turn up
If you miss the shoot without notice or a rescheduling request, the default is no refund, provided the photographer can document that they arrived or were available and ready.
We review credible emergencies, platform failures, photographer fault, and any legally protected cancellation right individually. Nothing here overrides a right the law gives you.
If your photographer cancels or doesn't come
We contact you and offer a suitable replacement or a full refund to your original payment method. You choose.
If you choose a replacement and it costs more, we show you the difference and you accept it before anything is charged. If it costs less, the difference is refunded, or credited only if you choose credit. Credit is never forced.
Rescheduling
Contact us as soon as possible through your booking page or Support@GenieGalleries.ca or our contact form. A new date or place depends on photographer availability, and any price change applies only after you have seen and accepted it. Asking to reschedule doesn't cancel a refund right you already have.
How refunds are paid
Refunds go back to your original payment method. We start an approved refund promptly; when it appears on your statement depends on your bank and the payment provider.
You may choose platform credit instead where offered. Its amount and any conditions are shown before you accept, and no expiry will defeat a refund the law entitles you to.
These are our standard marketplace rules, not a waiver of consumer-protection law. Where your province or territory gives you a stronger or different right, that right applies.
